Johnston Public Safety Complex and Fire Station #2 is a 5,900 SF building and features twelve sleeping rooms, a kitchen and dining room, and a spacious garage for apparatus and emergency vehicles. Consideration was given to select durable furniture and fixtures to respond to the continued use of the facility. The new station has dramatically reduced response times.
In addition to design services, the ADG Team assisted the City with its community outreach program in their efforts to promote a voter referendum, the selected mechanism for funding the project. The city had previously failed referendum attempts for other facilities, but extensive work by City Staff and elected officials, with guidance and assistance from the ADG Design Team, resulted in successful (82%) passage of a $14M bond referendum.
