Chupco Community Center

The Seminole Tribe of Florida requested architectural firms to provide a design concept for a new community center at the Fort Pierce Reservation, Chupco Landing. Chupco Landing is the tribe’s first gated and planned residential development. The design of the 25,000-SF facility included a cultural classroom, fitness center, indoor pool, gymnasium, restrooms, reception, clinic, outdoor eating, and covered, connecting walkways.

In response to the RFQ process, Architects Design Group prepared a conceptual design, which was developed around the idea that the future should look forward but have reflections of the past. The idea was to use architectural typologies that have historical significance to the Seminole Tribe and reinvent them in a modern way thus carrying forward the history, in stark contrast to the pastiche of typical surrounding suburbia that has inundated their culture.
