Architects Design Group was selected from a large field of highly technical, specialized firms to perform master planning and architectural services for a new Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) complex. FSEC affiliated with Florida’s State University System as part of the University of Central Florida for this project.
The complex was designed to contain approximately 65,000 SF and incorporated numerous items of “sustainable” design application. Specific emphasis was placed on creating a showplace for solar and other energy conservation building techniques. The facility provided laboratories for research and testing, as well as an education-oriented visitor’s center dedicated to disseminating information concerning renewable energy applications.
This project received the Award for Excellence in Architecture and the Design Arts Award, AIA Orlando Chapter.
