The City of Longview contracted with the Architects Design Group team to assist the city in performing a needs assessment study for Fire Stations No. 5, 7, and 8 to determine the most practical and cost-effective renovation, expansion, or new construction options. The Longview Comprehensive Plan, adopted in 2015 identified to renovate, expand or rebuild for Fire Stations No. 5, 7, and 8 and ranked it as the 5th highest priority for the future of the City. This study provided several alternatives for each station so that a decision could be made on the best option for each station based on station location and available funding.
The city decided on the renovation / addition of Station No. 5 located at 102 W Niblick Street. It was built in 1985 for six personnel on the site of a previous station. The updated station has three apparatus bays, exiting apparatus bays, one story fire station addition, as well as staff and public parking.
